Odisha caused a major upset, trouncing Delhi by seven wickets in their Group-A super league match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy All-India T-20 Cricket Tournament at Indore on Thursday. Medium pacer Suryakant Pradhan, all-rounder Ankit Yadav and middle-order batsman Govind Poddar put up impressive performance in the Odisha win.
Electing bat, Delhi were skittled out for 80. Pradhan destroyed the Delhi innings, dismissing the top four batsmen in his four overs, which cost him 11 runs. In reply, Odisha overhauld the target with eight balls to spare. Yadav, who picked up two wickets for 19 runs, hit a 43-ball 26 while playing as a make-shift opener. Vice-captain Poddar, who remained unbeaten on 25, hit the winning runs with a boundary.
This was the first win in three matches for Odisha, who earlier lost to Gujarat and Vidarbha by three wickets and 73 runs respectively. The win fetched Odisha four points, while Delhi drew blank.
